Q.bloxx A105 CR Cryo Module with Extended Range

Cryo Technology is a rapidly growing market and therefore more and more new sensor kinds appear. A clear trend is that these cryogenic temperature sensors move to higher resistance. With Gantner’s cryo module – the Q.bloxx A105 CR – a measurement range of up to 25kohms is now possible. The module is available as standard DIN rail module, or as Q.brixx/Q.raxx with 4 times 4-pole-LEMO (ERA.1S.304.CLL).

Our advanced 4-channel Q.bloxx A105 measurement module sets new standards in terms of stability and precision. For many different applications, the extremely precise and stable measurement of temperatures is an absolute prerequisite for the control of processes or the success of product innovations. In addition to the essential precision, particularly important aspects of this are the maintenance of stability when changes occur in the ambient temperature and ensuring long-term stability.

Key Features:

  • 4 galvanic isolated input channels for cryogenic sensors
    e.g. Type Cernox, Type TVO
    input range selectable 6500 Ω and 20000 Ω
  • Sensor excitation 7.5 µAeff only
    avoids self-heading of the sensor
  • Individual linearization of the sensor characteristics
Sensor specific linearization by using 32 nodes and archive in a sensor data file. Import of manufacturers calibration data
  • High accuracy digitalization
24 bit ADC, 10 Hz sample rate per channel

Long term Volcano Monitoring – A field study

Monitoring volcano activity is an important issue in the mitigation of natural hazards. Recently, most fatal issues occurred on volcanoes with low-energy and moderate activity, making them attractive touristic places (e.g., the 2014 Mount Ontake eruption in Japan). For these types of volcanoes, monitoring involves multiphysics measurements on dense networks. Distributed networks of sensors must be easily adapted to the volcano’s evolving state and the appearance of new active areas like fumaroles or high heat flux in the soil.
