Annual Review
Dear Readers,
another year is coming to an end and, after two years of recovery on the German market, we look back on eventful months. Leading economic experts are now predicting a global economic downturn. In terms of investments, this means long term planning and concentration on good support; our team is ready to help out here.
For Gantner Instruments, 2011 was another successful year with growth well in the two digit range. Our affiliates founded in 2010 in
the USA and Germany (Zwönitz, Saxony) have shown very positive development and have acquired their first major projects.
We have summarized the highlights of 2011 for you in a brief review.
We would like to express our heart-felt thanks to all our customers, partners and employees for their confidence in us.
We wish them, their families and friends a peaceful Christmas season and a prosperous New Year in 2012.
Seasons Greetings
Your Gantner Instruments Team

| Cooperation with IPETRONIK |

During the course of this year we began our collaboration with the IPEmotion Department at IPETRONIK, one of the world's leading producers of mobile instruments for the automotive industry.
IPEmotion is state-of-the-art software for instrumentation and data-logging applications with a special plug for Gantner test modules. This practical tool for configuration, measurement, visualization, editing, storage, analysis and automation can be combined very simply with all Gantner test systems, enhancing
their utility.

| Q.series: High Voltage Modules |
Measuring signals at high voltage levels.
Three different versions of these new modules are available: Q.bloxx for high hat rails, Q.brixx for portable systems or the 19", 3 HU Q.raxx. They all have 24 bit ADU resolution and a permanent insulation voltage of 1,200 VDC.
In the A123 version, these modules offer 4 voltage inputs, measuring ranges of 100 mV, 1 V, and 10 V, and a sampling rate of up to 100 kHz. The A124 module has 4 inputs for thermocouples and
offers a sampling rate of 1000 Hz. The A128 module offer 4 inputs for voltages with measuring ranges of 40 V, 120 V, 400 V, and 1200 V. They have a sampling rate of up to 100 kHz.
These high voltage modules are particularly suitable for the testing
of batteries and electric motors.

| Q.series: A106 Carrier Frequency Module |
Uncompromising measurement with strain gage bridges.
With the A106 module, available in the Q.bloxx series as well as the new Q.brixx and Q.raxx (19", 3HU) series, virtually everything users want is possible.
The sensor feed for the 2-channel module is configurable:
- For strain gage quarter, half and full bridges:
DC voltage, carrier frequency 600 Hz or
carrier frequency 4.8 kHz, 2.5 V or 5 V each.
- For inductive bridges, LVDT, RVDT:
Carrier frequency 4.8 kHz, 2.5 V or 5 V.
The scanning rate is up to 20 kHz. This module offers two, independently configurable, DC-insulated channels. Further characteristics: One analog output per channel (10 kHz), one digital input and one digital output per channel, low pass and high pass filters of the 4th order as well as conditioning channels such as linearization, Min., Max., arithmetic and alarm.

| EtherCAT also available for 19" systems |
The Q.raxx slimline series, designed especially for test bench use, is also available beginning immediately with integrated test controller.
In addition to the EtherCAT interface, this also offers users a series
of conditioning functions, such as PED controllers, sequencers, linkages, calculations, data stores and an additional Ethernet interface.

| Q.station – The New Power Test Controller |
The new test controller Q.station consists of a high-speed real-time controller in which real-time task rapid data acquisition e.g. measured data at 16 x 100 kHz or 128 x 10 kHz will be collected and transferred with a fast cycle time of 100 microseconds and precise processes such as PID control loops, links, and executes sequential control. And it consists of a user device that can visualize data (via the integrated touch screen or VNC) and gives the user the possibility to integrate functionality via text programming (C). The fully independent tasks can communicate with each other via virtual variables.
The new Test Controller can be used as either EtherCAT slave or EtherCAT master. It is equipped with a 1 Gig Ethernet interface as well as two full CAN interfaces and two USB interfaces.

| Clever Together |
Gantner Instruments GmbH and optiMEAS GmbH – cooperation for complete test equipment solutions.
Together these two companies provide solutions for technical measuring applications such as local monitoring of approx. 300 measuring points (temperatures, voltages, currents) for measuring thermal loads in nuclear power plants.

| Gantner Instruments supplies future test bench instrumentation for the Schaeffler Group |
In the search for new test bench instrumentation, the Schaeffler Group performed many tests – then chose the modular EtherCAT based Q.series from Gantner Instruments. This instrumentation with its modular design will be used for testing purposes in the Product Development Department at INA for roller bearings, motor systems, linear guides and plain bearings. At FAG the system is used in motor vehicles, test benches and dynamometer wagons. At LuK the Q.series is used for development of clutches, clutch actuators,
torque converters and transmissions.

| HORIBA ATS chooses Q.series |
In view of the increasing acceptance of EtherCAT interfaces in the test bench sector, HORIBA ATS, the leading manufacturer of test benches in automotive circles, chose the Q.raxx series slimline 19" units.
