Studies on lock gates
Lock gates are subject to permanent mechanical stress. Particularly minimum level differences between the chamber and pool mean high loads on all components when opening the lock. The purpose of the study, in addition to static measurement of the present control, is to determine and evaluate the parameters more precisely under highly dynamic conditions. For this purpose the rod and bottom pressures in the hydraulic cylinders are measured in relation to the various differences in the level between the chamber and pond (underwater) as well as the positions of the lock gates.

Measuring modules from the Q.bloxx series were used for recording the level and incremental position signals and calculating the differences. The signals were displayed and saved with test.viewer, allowing the signals to be saved subsequently in formats such as CSV files.
The results provided a wealth of information on the component loads, which is also of great value for the efforts to standardized lock gates.
